About Hans Wendland
I was born in Paris, which makes me French. I grew up in a family of painters, sculptors and art merchants. In France and Italy, I studied under the painter and sculptor Ambroselli and Maestra D’arte Tuti, where I received strong influences in impressionism and abstractionism. I was educated in Italy, France, England and finally in the United States where I lived for over twenty years. I have shown my work in the United States, South America and in Europe. For the past fifteen years I have lived parallel lives, one focused on high-tech and the other focused on art, and until very recently never mixing the two. In this world of right-brain and left-brain I have found the stimulus for creating my paintings. My work borders representational and non-objective art. All of my work is based on abstract shapes and emotions I see and feel. Nature is my biggest driver. As an expressionist, my objective is to take elements from nature, abstract them, and treat them by means of emotive color, texture and shapes, driving the viewer to react to my work personally. Over the years I have developed a technique where I paint with both oil and water-based colors on the same canvas, focusing on the ability to mix and work with the colors simultaneously, completely in the wet. I create emotion with a lot of depth and many layers of material on top of each other, adding pencil, crayon, oil pastels as well as dirt, leaves and “stuff” that allow me to create truly unique pieces of art. I have recently completed work on the www.playyoo.com project at Imaginventure in Lugano Switzerland, and am currently consulting as a New Media Creative Lead focusing on Web & Web2Mobile solutions. I have strong skills in multimedia design, and extensive experience in project management, methodology, development of multi-channel products and services including Web and Mobile programs, high-level client contact, team-building, and highest-quality delivery.
In my technology career I have focused on User Experience design, building user-centric interactive products and services for a variety of digital channels. I have built and led multi-disciplinary product development groups, and I have led projects from strategic workshop through design, development and deployment phases for web-based offerings to Fortune 500 companies. I contributed to building User Experience Groups for international consulting firms including Accenture and Cambridge Technology Partners both in the US and in Europe.
I started the Multimedia Program at Harvard University for the Extension School where I taught a Graduate level multimedia development course for several years, as well as delivered a number of professional multimedia summer programs.
My experience in project management includes specific expertise with projects requiring strong interactive design and multi-disciplinary development teams. I have authored several project management methods and implemented them in both agencies and new media development environments.
